2009/10
Following the end of the Lister/Holmes era, Jimmy Whitchurch was appointed 1st team manager. With only 4 players remaining from the side that started the Premier Cup final the previous season, Sutton recruited heavily during pre-season but the lack of experience in the team lead to conceeding several last minute goals. Sutton finished bottom of the table and were relegated back to Division 1.
2010/11
Sutton lost their opening game back in Division One to rivals East leake but then went on to lose just 4 of their next 15 games, progressing to the Quarter-Final of the Cobin Trophy where they were narrowly beaten 5-4 by eventual runners-up Greenhill. Sutton's biggest win came in an 11-1 demolition of Loughborough FC reserves, where Jimmy Whitchurch set a new record for most goals in a game with 6. Sutton ended the season losing just 2 of their final 7 league games and finished the season in a respectable 5th place. Nick Dyer finished top of the Sutton scoring charts with 28 goals, another new record.
2011/12
Sutton started the season in the same vein that they had finished the last, winning 5 out of their first 8 league games. By the end of February Sutton were on course for another 5th place finish in the league and they were into the Quarter-Final of the Charimans Shield, but were knocked out of the cup by Ravenstone reserves and they lost their final 6 league games of the season, slipping down the table and eventually finishing 8th out of 11, 1 place and 3 points behind village rivals the Academicals.
2012/13
During pre season, many of the 1st team players left the club for pastures new and after having missed the last 3 months of the previous season, manager Jimmy Whitchurch was forced to retire through injury. Stu Brown took over on an interim basis and although Sutton were able to field 2 teams on the opening weekend of the season, it was clear that running 2 teams would not be feasable and the 2nd team was disolved with 2nd team manager Jez Whitehead taking over as manager of the 1st team on a full time basis. The 2nd team squad was merged into the 1st team but Sutton struggled to compete. Jez Whitehead stepped down as manger at the end of January having won just 1 game out of 15. Rob Clark took over for the final 10 games of the season but was unable to turn around Sutton's poor form and they finished the season bottom of the table without a win in the league.
